Pamela T. Havens
Pamela Tritch Havens of Roanoke died peacefully at home Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2010, after a battle with cancer.
A memorial service was held Saturday, Feb. 27, at 10 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church with the Rev. Mark Graham officiating.
She was preceded in death by her father, Dr. Daniel Tritch.
Surviving are her husband, Donnie; children, Cooper and Anna; her mother, Jennifer Tritch of Fort Wayne, Ind.; sisters, Charlotte and Courtney Tritch; and brothers, Jeff and Tanner Tritch.
Memorial donations may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church, 4608 Brambleton Ave. SE, Roanoke, VA 24018.
Oakey’s South Chapel in Roanoke was in charge of the arrangements.
Marie C. Leffel
Marie Christian Kidd Leffel, 92, of Radford, formerly of Tazewell County, died Sunday, Feb. 28, 2010, at Wheatland Hill Assisted Living in Radford.
Funeral service was held Friday, March 5, at Peery & St. Clair Funeral Home in Tazewell with the Rev. Rodney Lawson officiating. Interment was in the Kidd Cemetery at Grapefield in Bland County.
She was born April 21, 1917, in Bland County, daughter of the late Hiram and Flora Anna Fox Christian. Before moving to Radford to be near her daughter, she lived in Tazewell County.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Earl Kidd Sr.; second husband, John W. Leffel; a son, Earl Kidd Jr.; three sisters, Eula Blessing, Calla Blessing and Annette Kirby; a brother, Fox Christian; a son-in-law, William Cabbage; and two nieces.
Survivors include a daughter, Julia “Judy” Kidd Cabbage of Radford; a stepdaughter, Betty Leffel Fox of Alexandria; daughter-in-law, Betty Siler Kidd of Williamsburg; three grandsons, Michael Cabbage and wife, Sondra Davis Cabbage, Dr. Brian Cabbage and Zachary Kidd; two great-grandchildren, Max Cabbage and Sofia Cabbage; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Mike Neel, Danny Neel, Robert Hayes, Randy Fox, Johnny Blessing, Gerald Blessing and Steve Kinser.
The family expresses gratitude to all the people that helped in her care: Wheatland Hills Assisted Living, Dr. Charles Judy and Medi-Home Health and Hospice.

Stephen P. Newberry Sr.
Stephen P. “Steve” Newberry Sr., 67, of Peterstown, W.Va., died Friday, March 5, 2010, at Carilion Giles Memorial Hospital in Pearisburg.
Funeral service was held Monday, March 8, at 2 p.m. at the Peterstown United Methodist Church in Peterstown, W.Va., with the Rev. Melissa Shortridge officiating. Interment was in Sunrise Memorial Gardens, Rich Creek.
He was born Sept. 10, 1942, in Goochland. He was retired from the Celanese Corp. as a first class millwright; a U.S. Army veteran; a member of the Peterstown United Methodist Church and United Methodist Men; a member of the Peterstown Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue; past president, zone governor and current secretary for the Peterstown Ruritan Club; member of the Peterstown Town Council; S.H.A.R.E. coordinator for the Peterstown area; member of the Carilion Giles Memorial Hospital Auxiliary; and worked as a driver for the Monroe County Council on Aging.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia “Patty” Burns Newberry; and his adoptive parents, Leighton P. and Brownie Newberry and Jim Stables.
Survivors include his adoptive mother, Mary Patteson Stables of Virginia Beach; a son and daughter-in-law, Stephen Newberry Jr. and Lynn of Peterstown, W.Va.; two grandchildren, Kelly and Nick Newberry of Peterstown, W.Va.; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Donald E. and Margaret Strough of Hopewell, Robert L. and Judy Newberry, Frank B. Newberry, all of Mechanicsburg; two sisters-in-law, Jewell Brown of Peterstown, W.Va., and Sue Burns Kirchmyer of Morgantown, W.Va.; extended family, Becky, Brad, Sydney and Brady Williams of Lake Wylie, S.C.; and several nieces and nephews.
