Suspects sought in Wythe robbery

Police are looking for suspects in a Tuesday evening robbery of a Maine motorist at the Flying J Travel Plaza on East Lee Highway.
According to the Wythe County Sheriff’s Office, Stanley Ames reported that a group of four or five men took $7,000 from his RV at approximately 6:30 p.m.
Ames told police that he was in his vehicle when a man approached him and asked him if he wanted to play cards for money. Ames didn’t but decided to give the man some money to help him out, police said.
At that point, one suspect restrained Ames while another took the money from the vehicle.
No one was injured in the robbery and no weapons were used, police said.
