Alicia Arney is thankful for the overwhelming response in the community to the Wee Cycle-It Children’s Consignment sales since the sales began two years ago in Abingdon.
According to Arney, who organizes the bi-annual events, as many as 135 consignors have signed up to participate in the spring and summer sale scheduled for 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, March 12, and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, March 13.  Half-price hours are 2 to 5 p.m. on Saturday.
The two-day sale was moved to the gymnasium at Woodland Hills Christian Church last fall when the sales outgrew the Fraley/Garrett House behind Sinking Spring Presbyterian Church. “The new location next to Abingdon Elementary is a wonderful open space for lots of great items,” said Arney.
Items at the sale include kid’s, teen’s and junior’s quality, gently-used clothing, maternity clothes, toys, books, videos, baby equipment and kid’s furniture. “Even the kitchen sink will be sold, that is, the plastic pretend one,” she said.
“Since the economic down turn, the popularity of this sale has taken off. Many mothers are looking for ways to save money, as well as to earn some extra cash.”
Arney said everyone involved benefits from the sales. “This sale is a win-win for the buyer, the seller, the Woodland Hills Christian Church which receives partial proceeds for its missions team, and Ecumenical Faith in Action which receives the donated leftovers. What I love is that everyone can shop in one place for brand-name children’s clothing and toys that are in great condition and at bargain prices.”
