Betty Webb Austin, 80, of Austinville died Thursday, Dec. 3, 2009.

Jesse G Coley
Jesse G Coley, 88, of Wytheville died Monday, Nov. 23, 2009.
Funeral service was held Saturday, Nov. 28, at 2 p.m. at the Full Gospel Bible Mission with the Revs. Hal Lewis and Bobby Lewis officiating. Interment was in the Draper Valley Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery with American Legion Post 9 conducting military rites.
He was born May 7, 1921, in Speedwell, son of the late Henry and Lilly Dunford Coley. He was a member of Bakers Chapel Pentecostal Holiness Church and attended Full Gospel Bible Mission.
He was a U.S. Army World War II veteran (invasion of France and landed at Normandy Beach) and a member of Grover King Post 1115 VFW.
He was retired from RAAP after 32 years of service as a security guard. His hobby was farming and he dearly loved his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by 11 brothers and sisters.
Survivors include his wife, Laura M. Coley of the home; a son, Stanley Coley of Christiansburg; a daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Edward M. Dowdy of Wytheville; a brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Faye Coley of Wytheville; four sisters, Ruth Holiday of North Carolina, Annabel Arnold of Fries, Arlee White of Hillsville and Emily Sue Perez of Hillsville; four grandchildren, Phillip Coley, Michael Dowdy, Matthew Dowdy and Mark Dowdy; six great-grandchildren, Jesse Coley, Chase Coley, Trevor Dowdy, Julie Dowdy, Gabriel Dowdy and Maci Dowdy; and several nieces and nephews.

Helen M. Fahy
Helen M. Fahy, 80, of Wytheville died Friday, Nov. 27, 2009, at her home.
A memorial service will be held later.
She will be greatly missed by her niece, nephews, cousins, friends, neighbors and loving caregivers.

George Willis Preston, 63, of Glen Allen died Saturday, Nov. 28, 2009.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Dec. 5, at 10 a.m. at Christ Church Episcopal, 5000 Pouncey Tract Road in Glen Allen.
He was raised in Rural Retreat and proudly graduated from Virginia Tech. He was retired from American Home Products and enjoyed ongoing contact with folks from this company.
He loved working on and driving his antique and race cars. He was a member at the Virginia International Raceway and had many friends there.
He was a CASA volunteer for many years. He helped numerous children who needed an advocate to speak to them. He found vast satisfaction in this work.
He was devoted to his family and neighbors. He was an active member of Christ Church Episcopal in Glen Allen. He was loved by all and will be sorely missed.
He is survived by his wife, Dot; daughter, Kate; brother, Charles Rhea Preston Jr.; sister, Jane Phillippi; nieces, Terry Preston and Beth Dunn; nephew, Rhea Preston; and several grandnephews and grandnieces.
The family will receive friends Saturday, Dec. 5, from 9 to 10 a.m. (service time) at the church.

Randall W. Pugh Sr.
Randall Wade Pugh Sr., 62, of Wytheville died Thursday, Dec. 3, 2009, at his home.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, Dec. 5, at 7 p.m. at the Barnett Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Sonny Ayers officiating. A graveside service will be held Sunday, Dec. 6, at 2 p.m. at Mt. Mitchell United Methodist Church Cemetery.
He was born Jan. 26, 1947, in Wythe County, son of the late William and Jessie Rakes Pugh. He was owner and operator of Old Stage Carpet and was a carpenter.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Faye Sawyers; and three brothers, C.J. Pugh, Roger Pugh and Dallas Pugh.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia Alford Pugh of the home; two daughters and a son-in-law, Melissa and Martin Hernan of Washington, D.C., and Kayla Pugh; a son, Randy Pugh of Rural Retreat; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Loretta Umberger, Nancy Hurst, Patsy and Carl Tolley, all of Rural Retreat, and Marlene and Bryan Newton of North Carolina; a brother, Jimmy Pugh of Cripple Creek; a stepdaughter and husband, Angelia and Robbie Williams of Cripple Creek; a stepson and wife, Rocky and Angie Alford of Cripple Creek; two grandchildren, Sydney Pugh and Levi Lawrence; three stepgrandchildren, Coalton Williams, Kayla Alford and Logan Alford; special sister-in-law, Betty Pugh; several other sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Saturday, Dec. 5, from 5 to 7 p.m. (service time) at the funeral home.

Jean Audrey Six, 75, of Rural Retreat died Thursday, Dec. 3, 2009.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, Dec. 6, at 2 p.m. at the Barnett Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Brian Burch and Bobby Dunn officiating. Interment will be in the Stony Fork Community Church Cemetery.
She was born Nov. 20, 1934, in Washington, D.C., daughter of the late Walter S. and Agnes Johns Seis. She attended Rural Retreat United Methodist Church and was a volunteer with the Wythe County Department of Social Services for 18 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Jacob Six Jr.; a son, Wendell Melvin Six; and a daughter, Wilma S. Rivera.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Winifred Jean Robinette and Mike of Marion; four sons and daughters-in-law, William Michael Six Sr. and Linda of Pennsylvania, Walter James Six and Linda of Rural Retreat, Warren Jacob Six and Angie of Rural Retreat, Wade Morris Six and Donna of Wytheville; 13 grandchildren, Cory Alexander Six, Brittany Jo Samaniego, Peter Joseph Rivera, Isaac Paul Rivera, William David Anderson, Jonathan Tyler Anderson, William Michael Six Jr., Thomas Jacob Six, Eric Michael Robinette, Jeremy Lee Robinette, Matthew Allen Robinette, Daniel Adam Robinette and Jessica Nichole Robinette; numerous great-grandchildren; and a twin sister, Joan Bennett of Owensboro, Ky.
The family will receive friends Saturday, Dec. 5, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home or anytime at the home of Warren and Angie Six, 331 Westfield Avenue in Rural Retreat.
