Boys eliminated in regional

The boys’ basketball team ended the season with a 66-43 first round Region C, Division 2 loss to James River at Buchanan on Wednesday, February 24. It was the Buffaloes’ first regional playoff appearance since 1998.
The Knights took a 14-13 first quarter lead. Chandler Jones had three field goals, Cole Peters had two and Nathan Coartney hit a three.
In the second quarter, James River had a 15-6 advantage to take a 29-19 halftime lead. Floyd’s only scoring came on two baskets by Peters and one by Jones.
Jordan Talbott had 11 points in the third quarter as the Knights outscored the Buffaloes 18-15 to increase the lead to 47-34. Tucker Crawford hit a three and made four free throws, Peters had three field goals, and Jones had one.
In the fourth quarter Crawford had a field goal, Peters and Coartney had field goals, and Cole Worrell and Joey Conduff each had a free throw.
